Hot Cocoa Popcorn

Hot Cocoa Popcorn

Hot cocoa, hot chocolate, tomato, tomAto. It's all the same, which is delicious chocolate in drinkable form. Some people make their own mix with cocoa powder and sugar, and sometimes powdered milk and cornstarch, while others just buy the ready made packets in the grocery store. Add boiling water, or milk (way better in our opinion), stir and sip. We love everything about it except that we're drinking it and not eating it. We're crunch people. We need crunch. And so we made hot cocoa popcorn so that there will be both hot cocoa and popcorn crunch!

We have nothing against ready made packets of hot cocoa mix but we do feel strongly that they are not all the same quality. We've sampled most and definitely have favorites. And yes, the good ones might be a bit more pricey but totally worth it. We also think it's especially important in this recipe where the flavor isn't being diluted by liquid. The quality of the chocolate is going to matter just as does the quality of the popcorn.

That part is easy, of course, because we're using our popcorn. Our classic Movie Night popcorn kernels work great in this but you can also get more festive with our Christmas Movie kernels for a holiday treat. Buy those HERE.

The rest of the recipe is pretty simple. Pop the corn, drizzle with butter, toss with the good hot cocoa mix and stir in marshmallows. It's hot cocoa, people. It needs marshmallows! Drizzling on extra chocolate is optional unless you believe, as we do, that chocolate is really never optional. We also like adding some of our Dell Cove salted caramel seasoning because it's still popcorn and more is more delicious. Serve, enjoy and buy more hot cocoa mix because this will go fast.
